Gary LeBel: AUTOGRAPH

Each time it rains the fire break road remakes itself, a tabula rasa. For miles along the powerlines, the soft, gray loam of coastal Georgia is covered with fine white sand that yields to the slightest touch. Reading the softly feathered Braille of rain-flow, one senses something far deeper than the smooth and elegant curves of a natural process ― it is the slowing heartbeat of chaos made visible in time, an autograph of entropy.

winter stillness ...
grass is waiting
for the summer-god's feet
